First day in Tokyo for the Holidays

I arrived in Tokyo around 2:30 and went straight to my hotel. I stayed at the APA hotel in Nippori. I highly recommend this chain of hotels. See my post on APA hotel here.
After the hotel I went to dinner in Shinjyuku at my favorite restaurant. I love this restaurant because you just order single dishes. For example, I ordered butter corn, french fries, and steak with grated radish and green onions. Each dish is about $3-$6 and you just keep ordering until your full!
Also this restaurant is on the 7th floor so if you go alone or just you and another you get the window seats! Which is great because then you can see everyone on the ground walking by. But it's also nice to come with a bigger group because everyone gets their own little area separated by curtains so it feels like you have your own private space!
In Japanese restaurants you usually get a hotel towel at your seat and you clean your hands before you eat. They also usually give you some sort of small dish of pickled vegetables to eat before your food comes.
Here are some photos from my dinner.

After dinner I decided to go to Harajyuku to see the Christmas lights and to get desserts. First I went to the top floor of this building to see their beautiful decorations they do every year. Here are some photos.

After I went to the balcony to see the view of Omotesando street.

After viewing the lights I went to get dessert.

And that's what I did on my first night back in Tokyo :)
All my love,
Shanti
